how to save a life

If I cared less about my face,
And was more honest with my feelings,
I would really like,
To call or meet-up with all the people,
That I hold dear to my heart,
And tell them I love them.

Shooting at the moon to bring the sun up

Was supposed to go island-hopping with Yiting and Kathy two weeks back but the weather forecast told us it would be stormy the entire day when we had already reached Marina South Pier, sighhhh ):

I love, love, love symmetrical shots! (taken at the station when I was waiting for the late ones tsk tsk)

We met up and had a change of plans - watch Avengers at Plaza Sing instead.

But before that, we decided to grab a quick brunch at 4Fingers.

Ordered 18 pieces of chicken, had a choice of Soy Garlic or Spicy so we took a combination of both.

HAHAHA the spicy ones were just plain annoying to our mouths omg, felt like tiny flames were dancing on the tip of my tongue.

Every time we picked up a spicy chicken to eat, we gave eye contact to each other and went, "here goes nothing..."

Tasted good but I think Chicken Up! serves better Korean chicken, bigger portions and they are marinated much more thoroughly.

When we finally ended up in the theatre, it was freezing cold. So we decided to improvise HAHAHAH we used the picnic mat that I brought along as a blanket, super cozy and warm heh. Other movie-goers were probably like "WTF???" when we stood up to spread the sheet across our bodies.

Avengers was great as expected.

When we were done, we went outside to defrost and the weather was totally fine, why you gotta lie to us, iPhone weather app?!??!!

Headed for dessert at Nana's Green Tea heheheheheheheh omg

All of us got parfaits :)

Just sat around chilling while reminiscing JC days, awww. I don't think I can go through that hellish period of time ever again but after thinking about all the times, even those mundane tutorials, lectures, break times(almost every one seemed like some sort of speed-eating competition where we had to chiong eat before we had to rush our asses back to class), combined PE lessons(OUR FAV 4 LYF WITH QT TEACHER MS LEE :D), floorball(A divs training period felt like hell camp!!!), consultations(enough said, we all know how this felt like), maybe it wasn't so bad after all, you know? At least there were great people that endured the same shits together and were also there for the happy moments.

Met up with the ultimate noobs for a Swee Choon supper date.

They're always bullying me grrrrr.

After eating all of these, we still ordered more dishes oh goodness.

Still a fan of their liu sha baos ;)

After eating, we just sat there for ages even though we had intentions of going home. Too full to move.

We didn't budge until it was close to 11 then we started on this frantic search for taxis but to no avail.

You should try flagging down a taxi in Little India, it is almost an impossible task. Finally managed to hail one after walking about aimlessly for half an hour.

The taxi uncle was most likely shaking his head at us.

Murakami x Game of Thrones mug x earpiece

I'm finally reading again(...I think.)

Poh kept telling me in Sec 4 that this book contained some sort of gory animal abuse, or was it rape or something??? Guess I haven't got to that part yet. If you're thinking I'm reading it for that, you're wrong ok haha this author really pens down great books.

Went for a food hunt again with Charmiane and Shi Ting.

Chinatown, oh, you're so pretty. (even Hotel 81 looks good)

Headed to PS.Cafe for lunch. We were the only locals there, the rest of the patrons were angmohs.

The Fungi pasta was really good!!! Thick slices of mushroom topped with some fancy cheese.

Don't get me started on the Truffle Fries. This dish was the star of the day. Freaking love truffle fries, you can feed me that as my snack daily and I would gladly oblige.

Since Char used to work here, we got 3 glasses of latte, all on the house! The latte tasted good, ok maybe it was just average, but it being free makes it tastes so much better HEHEH.

A generous scoop of Banana Caramel ice cream, with compliments of the house too!!! It was yummy, tasted really handmade, not some generic off-the-shelf ice-cream.

We saved so much money and gained so much weight hehehe thanks Char.

Celebrated Mothers' Day with the fam and also treated my momma to KBBQ to celebrate.

I can never, ever repay you, Mum. I don't think any child can ever repay their parents man, I can't imagine all that childbirth, and younger years where we would cry our asses off in the middle of the night but our parents would still faithfully come by our sides to pacify us. Not to mention all of our rebellious teen years which they had to endure too.

So ya, if you feel guilty, be a good parent. You won't be able to repay their love and effort but at least invest the same amount, if not more, into your future children.

My life in an upturned boat, marooned on a cliff.

When I see children on the streets, be it a 3 year old toddler or a bunch of primary/secondary school kids, I can't help but think, "wow little one, you still have so much of your youth left..." and then feel so envious of them.

Truly, one of man's greatest phase of life is probably growing up, not when he's in the evolving-into-an-adult stage but rather his golden teen years.

If scientists could one day perfect a Peter Pan potion formula, I'm guessing hoards of them would be snapped up immediately by those who have grown weary of their aged, adult lives.

It's really scary to grow old. Much of your life would revolve around work and raising kids. Whatever activities that you've partaken as a little human would no longer be seen acceptable by society if you continue to pursue them as a grown-up. People would slap labels such as "childish", "shameless" onto you.

And then there's the constant worry of having enough money. "Should I clock in more overtime?", "Invest in bonds or stocks or should I just dump all my money into a fixed deposit account?", "After all, I do have to pay the bills and taxes and pay off the mortgage", "How am I ever gonna build up a substantial nest of cash to send little Bob and Mary to school?".

The future does look very bleak.

So kids, just do whatever you want right now. (except drugs, DON'T DO DRUGS!!!)

You'll never know if you would still have the chance to engage in them in the time to come.

I feel my colors start to blend with the shore. My yellows turn to gold.

Arrow isn't that great, and neither is The Flash.

Why do people keep insisting that they're the "best tv series" showing on television now????

NamNam Noodle Bar.

Makes me miss Vietnam a lot. Urghhh why is Vietnamese cuisine so ex in Singapore? Back in Hanoi, you could get a decent, piping hot bowl of pho for under SGD$2 but here, a not-so-yummy bowl costs upwards $9.

Having this raging feeling to travel again after seeing hoards of people on vacayyyy on IG. But everyone's so busy and schedules are always clashing.

My workplace. It's funny how I could have so much work piled up and yet I feel bored 95% of the time. I'm doing my work yet I feel so lethargic and un-alive.

The only thing keeping me sane is talking to Yiting, Kathy or the aunty and even so I have to do it discreetly to avoid making too much noise in the silent madhouse.
But it does pack a great view.

Met up with Weili and Zhenyang on Friday for dinner at IKEA. Haven't seen these noobs in forever! Was supposed to meet Wally only but ZY could book out on that day so he came along too.

Met up with Wei mama first at Tamp after an insanely exhausting day of work and we ended up waiting for the IKEA bus for close to 50 mins cause we missed the previous one by a mere 20 seconds or so ):

So both of us ended up exchanging office gossips since she was working an admin job too and constantly complaining about the lengthy time we had to wait for the bus. And the entire time, poor ZY was helping us chope seats HAHAHA.

According to Weili's bizarre logic, a picture will not look good unless it has been slanted at an angle of at least 45 degrees so this one's dedicated to her.

And this too

Being insane is our forte.

$0.50 cheap thrills hehehe

Thankssssss for such a wonderful catch-up session. My beloved Changi Airport overnight crew and Hongkong trip roomies ♥

Don't think I would ever be able to survive the horrendous A level period without these people - worrying about our futures together(there was this point where we were contemplating pursuing a career at McD's), laughing at how we were unable to solve questions(normal people would be panicking and sending out an SOS to their tutors but nope, not us, we'd just be laughing off at our ignorance), napping when we were supposed to be burning the midnight oil at T2 Starbucks, booking tons of consults with teachers at the very end(I still keep my consults timetable as a reminder of that absurd point in my life) and the list goes on and on etc.

Met-up with the crazy foodies again on a journey towards reaching food nirvana.

This time around, it was Dazzling Cafe, a renowned Taiwanese chain that caught Taiwan by storm a couple of years ago. They finally reached the shores of Singapore.

We were told to wait an hour and a half before we would get seated but the guy ended up calling us an hour later so that's good I guess? But still a pretty long wait.

In the meantime... we were watching Star Awards live on Char's phone through Toggle HAHAHA

Busy critiquing the clothes worn by celebrities while trying our best to identify who was who on that little screen heh typical aunties

FOOD IS HERE. We tried their widely raved about Shibuya-style honey toast, so so good. The one in the foreground is their Party in Your Mouth Honey Toast while the one at the back is the Hazelnut Chocolate Honey Toast. We wanted to get the Mango and Coconut one but sadly they ran out ):

The latter was comparably better than Party in Your Mouth, the toast tasted sweeter and I guess the blend of the sauce with the honey toast really worked well, unlike the other one, which felt dry towards the end and was underwhelming.

We paid $45.65 for both dishes which was quite steep but the portions were huge so yeah if you're sharing then this wouldn't burn a hole in your pocket and neither would it add on too much to your waistline heh :)

On our way back home.

Shi Ting was teaching me how to use Snapchat and yeah, I still don't like it.

My first and last ever post on Snapchat.

Why are people still using Snapchat?? It's so 2012. Isn't it like a medium to send nudes or something? And why would I want whatever I post to self-destruct in 24 hours??? What if it's something epic and I want people to be able to see it even if I'm an 80 year old grandma? Or my pictures to be seen for a mere 10 seconds or less until it's forever lost in the abyss of the internet? Unless you're trying to sext. Which is silly. (sorry for the bashing, but that's just my opinion.)

Finally ended our one-month stint at Ocra and all of us decided not to extend our working time there because honestly, it has been driving us crazy. I think this will be the only time in my life where I feel elated to be UNEMPLOYED....again!

Anyway, on the last day, we met up early in the morning to buy donuts for all the full time staffs and cleaning aunty :')

I will miss you, Aunty!!! For always talking to me and constantly asking about how my day was and sharing with me bits of your life when I was doing reception.

At least she made my job seem less boring.

Received our paychecks as well as chocolates on our last day from the manager, aww. She's always so nice and friendly.

Farewell.
