Hi. So this won't be some usual post where I briefly recount what has happened recently but rather an extravagant rant about...*drum roll* Insta-freaking-gram.

So, I've actually did something really deserving of praises and applause(yes, I'm being shameless) approximately a month ago which is to delete the Instagram app off my phone. And I've yet to use Instagram since then except by logging in once on their mobile website to change my bio to being on hiatus.

And GUESS WHAT, it's possible to wean off Instagram addiction! Previously, I would burn HOURS daily by liking and stalking and liking posts. It became somewhat like an addiction, like I would tell myself silly things such as "ok see how many pictures I can like in a minute" AND I WOULD ACTUALLY TIME MYSELF AND GO ON THIS CRAZY TAPPING FRENZY(by the way, my record is approx. 67 posts per min). Unbelievable.

Then comes the next revelation. WHO ACTUALLY TRULY LIKES ALL OF THE PHOTOS THAT THEY HAVE "LIKED"?!

Sometimes, as you scroll through your timeline, you would chance upon some really...err unusual? gross? disturbing? annoying? posts, eg. close ups of squashed insects, wounds, or pictures with captions such as "shoutout to @xxxxx", "if I get 100 likes, I would xxxxx" and what do we do? We simply go "not again.." or just cringe inside and we end up liking that shit anyway.

And don't even get me started on instavids, who seriously has the time to wait for them to load and play? WE DOUBLE-TAP THAT VID EVEN BEFORE WE HAVE VIEWED IT, CAUSE C'MON, AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FO DAT! This is especially true for me, frankly speaking, the only instavids I ever allow to buffer and play are those posted by celebs(XIAXUE's VIDEOS OF DASH :DDD) or by close friends. Other than that, I'll still like your video but I have no clue what is it about cause I hardly ever play them.(sorry, not sorry)

Hah ok here I am criticising a well-loved social media, maybe this is plainly just a case of "吃不到葡萄说葡萄酸". Even after saying all these shit, I can foresee myself re-downloading the app in a couple of months and go back to binge-liking.

Ok anyway this is just a rant that came off the top of my head, and it is not aimed to bring anger or pain or discomfort to anyone. Have a good day, random viewer.
